west coast fun

A couple of weekends ago, we packed the car and headed west. It was a valentine's present booked to coincide with my birthday.  We started in a little inn not far from Dunoon and overlooking Loch Eck.  A very old building, our entire room was on a slant - not good as after a glass of wine or two!

Despite BF having a dose of man flu, we did some light walking with the highlight being Benmore botanic gardens (an off shoot of Edinburgh boitanics).  You are greeted by an avenue of giant redwoods

Then you continue through trees, up hills, through various forests into a fernery and after a few hours, you reach the tea shop where there is massive cake!

The afternoon was spent walking through the forrest and a magical fairy glen or Puck's Glen to give it the proper name.  It's a lively little gorge that has a path along the side of the river....

Well worth the walk!  A full day of doing nothing but walking was lovely. Even the mucus dribbling BF enjoyed it.

Next trip is Cambridge and I'm currently sitting in the airport for that....
